The Instructions We Give

Guideline of Adjustments for the 3XF Single Bass Pedal

Dear Customer, You are about to experience the wondrous utility and application of magnetic repulsion as the source of your pedal’s forward throw and return action. Please use the following instructions to achieve the most out of your new pedal.
The pedal is supplied with two hex wrenches, held by magnetic attraction in the bottom magnet cartridge. The 5/32 in. (larger) is used for the slide adjust feature in the foot board and beater head height. Use the 7/64 in. wrench for the beater angle and upper cartridge settings.

1. Beater angle/height adjustment:

Loosen/remove the side set bolt in the side plate of the cam assembly and the center shaft housing rotates for any of three angle settings. Your pedal is factory sent at center hole setting. For more throw/angle off the bass drum head, bring the beater housing to the higher hole setting and for less, set the beater closer into the bottom hole setting *You will see that doing so slightly affects the pedal board angle and amount of magnetic repulsion. See alignment instructions.

Your pedal has been supplied with a height adjustable beater head. Simply loosen the cap bolts in the shaft collars, set the beater head height, press the collars onto the beater head and retighten.

2. Magnetic Alignment:

To the reference in 1., as the beater angle setting works conjunctively in your bass drum pedal, it is the setting of the magnets’ alignment/spacing that create your pedal’s over all feel and performance. As the magnets meet face to face the magnetic field of repulsion is at its greatest. Offset, it is less intense. The slide adjust feature in the pedal board allows alignment increase or decrease of the magnetic field. Loosen the set bolt and slide the pedal magnet up or down to give you that range of repulsion adjustment, up giving the strongest.

After the initial settings of beater angle/height and upper cartridges use the slide adjust for the final fine tuning you want.

3. Upper Magnet cartridges:

For reference purposes, the right and left sides are as such when looking down at your pedal with the Drumnetics™ logo facing you. The two top cartridges are affixed to the cam side plates and do not feature any adjustment. The two bottom ones are attached rotationally on the axle shaft and allow repulsion settings that coincide with the fixed, top cartridges as you play the pedal.

The left is set at a start up factory low-position for repulsion pulses on the beater’s return. This offers an assistant forward thrust on the next note’s throw. If you’d like more repulsion, loosen the set bolt in the outside face of the upright support and move the cartridge counter-clockwise to align with the next  adjustment hole and tighten set bolt back in. This will decrease the space between the magnets sequentially which increases the amount of repulsion between both top and bottom magnets. For less repulsion, loosen the set bolt in the upright support and move the cartridge clockwise to align with the next adjustment hole and tighten set bolt back in. This will increase the space between the magnets sequentially which decreases the amount of repulsion between both top and bottom magnets.

NOTE

This adjustment feature will also slightly affect your chosen beater angle. For example, if you set the beater back with the cam’s top hole and put the cartridge one hole counter clockwise from the factory setting it will “push” forward because of the increased magnetic repulsion.
The right is set for a mid-amount of repulsion in the upper configuration to coincide with the middle beater angle setting. To get more return action off the drumhead, loosen the set bolt in the outside face of the upright support and move the cartridge counter clockwise to align with the next  adjustment hole and tighten the set bolt back in. This will decrease the space between the magnets sequentially as well, which increases the amount of repulsion between both top and bottom magnets. For a lighter feel, loosen the set bolt in the upright support and move the cartridge clockwise to align with the next adjustment hole and tighten the set bolt back in. This will increase the space between the magnets sequentially as well, which decreases the amount of repulsion between both top and bottom magnets. These adjustments too, will coincide with your chosen beater angle. For example, if you’ve put the beater angle all the way forward with the cam’s bottom hole the magnets will need to be closer with a more counter clockwise hole setting to bring them closer for the preferred amount of magnetic repulsion.
Thanks again for choosing Drumnetics pedals as part of your drum kit set up. I hope you experience the same level of performance and enjoyment as I do!! Please feel free to contact me with any questions and let us know how you feel about your pedal and/or hi hat stand by sending us a comment.
