Guideline of Adjustments to the Nd5 Single Bass Pedal

Dear Customer, You are about to experience the wondrous utility and application of magnetic repulsion as the source of your pedal’s forward throw and return action. Please use the following instructions to achieve the most out of your new pedal.

The pedal is supplied with two hex wrenches, held by magnetic attraction in the bottom magnet cartridge. The 5/32 in. (larger) is used for the slide adjust feature in the foot board and beater head height. Use the 7/64 in. wrench for the beater angle and upper cartridge settings.

1. Upper Magnet Cartridges:

To the reference in 1., as the beater angle setting works conjunctively in your bass drum pedal, it is the setting of the magnets’ alignment/spacing that create your pedal’s over all feel and performance. As the magnets meet face to face the magnetic field of repulsion is at its greatest. Offset, it is less intense. The slide adjust feature in the pedal board allows alignment increase or decrease of the magnetic field. Loosen the set bolt and slide the pedal magnet up or down to give you that range of repulsion adjustment, up giving the strongest.

After the initial settings of beater angle/height and upper cartridges use the slide adjust for the final fine tuning you want.

2. Magnetic Alignment:

For reference purposes, the right and left sides are as such when looking down at your pedal with the DrumneticsUSA logo facing you. The two top cartridges are affixed to the cam side plates and do not feature any adjustment. The two bottom ones are attached rotationally on the axle shaft and allow repulsion settings that coincide with the fixed, top cartridges as you play the pedal.

With The Nd Series Pedals having equal front to back and both right and left magnetic arrangements, the object of setting the repulsion is to establish the preferred amount on the front magnets. The cartridges are designed so that back return magnets efficiently correlate with the fronts. They are factory set for a mid-amount of repulsion to coincide with the middle beater angle setting. To get more return action off the drumhead, loosen the cap screw in the outside face of the upright support and move the cartridge counter clockwise to align with the next adjustment hole and lightly tighten the cap screw back in until you feel it seat into the hole. This decrease the space between the magnets sequentially which increases the amount of repulsion between both top and bottom magnets. For a lighter feel, loosen the cap screw in the upright support and move the cartridge clockwise to align with the next adjustment hole and again, lightly tighten the cap screw back in. This will increase the space between the magnets sequentially, which decreases the amount of repulsion between both top and bottom magnets.

PLEASE NOTE

These adjustments too, will coincide with your chosen beater angle. For example, if you’ve put the beater angle all the way forward with the cam’s bottom hole, the magnets will need to be closer with a counter clockwise hole setting to position them with the preferred amount of magnetic repulsion. Alternately, if you’ve put the beater angle all the way back with the cam’s top hole the magnets will need to be farther away with a clockwise hole setting to position them with the preferred amount of magnetic repulsion.

Thanks again for choosing DrumneticsUSA pedals as part of your drum kit set up. I hope you experience the same level of performance and enjoyment as I do!!
